Brittany Spaniel Puppies History

The Brittany could be the fruit of the crossing between the Orange & White Setter and some not clearly identified French dogs. This hearty hunting dog probably originated in Brittany, a province in France. The Brittany was first shown in that country in 1896. A versatile hunter, the Brittany is one of the most popular pointing breeds for bird hunting. Its official recognition dates from 1938, so before receiving a standard, the Brittany underwent several changes of fortune. In some countries, the breed is referred to as a Brittany Spaniel; however, in the United States, it is referred to as just Brittany.

Brittany Spaniel Puppies Temperament

The breed was initially bred as a hunting dog and noted for getting easy to train and sweet-natured. The breed is generally more sensitive to correction than other hunting breeds, and harsh corrections are usually unnecessary. Brittanys are all-around sound dogs, as they’re great family members’ pets at the same time as working dogs inside the field. Brittanys are eager to please, friendly, and from time to time, sensitive dogs. They may be terrific with children. Brittany Spaniel puppies are energetic dogs and need to have no less than an hour of vigorous exercise every single day. The dogs are active and demand frequent physical exercise and space to run, along with a fenced yard is important. At least 1 extended walk is required day-to-day to satisfy the demands of most Brittany Spaniel puppies, and quite a few Brittany Spaniel puppies will require more than this. The Brittany tends to make an ideal companion for an active owner. The breed, from time to time, gets a reputation for being crazy or uncontrollable, but these challenges are just about invariably because of lack of physical exercise and training and aren’t generally noticed in well-cared-for dogs. Brittany Spaniel puppies can grow to be incredibly shy if not completely socialized, as well as amongst well-socialized dogs; there is considerable variation in levels of friendliness. Socialization is quite essential, and they should be socialized at a young age. These breeds are simple to train and are eager to please. With far more American dual champions (dogs with titles in each conformation show and field trials) than any other breed, the Brittany maintains strong hunting instincts in all bloodlines.
